WHKS has an opportunity for an Entry Level Water/Wastewater Engineer with 4 years of experience who is interested in working with a wide variety of challenging engineering projects. The candidate will use their knowledge and expertise in the design and management of water/wastewater projects in Minnesota and surrounding states.

Responsibilities Include

• Complete modeling and design of wastewater treatment and collection, and water treatment and distribution systems
• Prepare engineering plans, plan specifications and other contract documents for the design of water/wastewater systems including distribution and collection mains, lift stations, siphons, and treatment facilities
• Prepare design calculations and technical reports
• Research issues related to wastewater that impact individual projects
• Observe construction projects related to collection, distribution, and treatment systems
• Coordinate with engineers and technicians on a variety of challenging engineering tasks in a collaborative team environment
• Perform Project Management to include effective communication with clients to develop strong relationships, review project needs, and secure contracts
  
  

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree
• 4 years of experience in water/wastewater systems design
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks at a time
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with clients, contractors and peers
• Excellent computer skills
  
  

Desirable Qualifications (candidate Need Not Have All To Apply)

• Experience or education in hydraulics and fluid mechanics
• Experience or education in chemistry and process design for water and/or wastewater treatment facilities
• Experience in field work and/or construction observation
• Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• SewerGEMS or InfoSWMM modeling
• AutoCAD mechanical drafting, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation
