What are the responsibilities and job description for the MAINTENANCE MECHANIC position at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School?
This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of all types of trade work associated with building maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Qualified knowledge and/or experience in all phases of building maintenance
2.Electrical license preferred
3.Willingness to obtain a Class 3 or higher Sewage Treatment License within a reasonable time (candidates already licensed preferred)
4.Willingness to obtain Massachusetts Grade 2B and 1C Hydraulics License for forklifts and front end loaders
5.Must relate positively to planned work projects involving instructors and students
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.All functions of building maintenance including, but not limited to, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, grounds keeping, welding, sheet metal work, pneumatic control, knowledge of small engine repair, glass replacement, and door hardware maintenance
2.Should have snow removal experience
3.Will, as directed, conduct a preventative maintenance program
4.Will, as directed, periodically inspect all areas of the building to ensure all safety and building code standards are maintained
5.Must have ability and initiative to recognize and report actual and potential maintenance problems
6.Will be on 24-hour emergency call
7.Will be responsible to respond to other duties and functions pertaining to the operations, care and maintenance of the building and grounds as directed or assigned
8.Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency
9.Heavy physical activity, including regular lifting of 50 pounds, shoveling, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, and reaching overhead
10.Other duties as assigned by administration
SALARY AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
12 Month Position
Salary according to contract (depending on experience, licenses between $51,964 - $64,419)
