Front Office Specialist needed for busy Ophthalmology Practice in Katy.
Summary:
We are a well-established, well-respected provider of Ophthalmology services with multiple locations in the Houston area. We are known for our superior customer service and dedication to providing patients with the best experience and outcomes for their vision needs.
The Front Office Specialist will be expected to provide the following core services and have the necessary skills to complete these services.
Some Saturday morning wok may be required. May work at multiple locations.
Selected Responsibilities:
- Answers incoming and inter-office calls, schedules appointments and triages calls as necessary; schedules incoming fax referrals
- Explains insurance benefits to patient's as needed over the phone and in person.
- Maintains supplies, cleanliness and stock of materials for reception area.
- Retrieves charts from other locations for daily appointments
- Creates, maintains, scans, files and retrieves patient charts
- Collects and posts charges, collected payments; including deductibles, co-payments, and co-insurance; prepares deposits
- Collects balances as assigned by audit
- Balances charges and collections daily after the last patient leaves
- Scans in records for upcoming appointments and electronically files to EHR
- Cross trains on other front office duties and assists with daily functions as needed
- Follows all company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a medical office setting, with previous experience in customer service required and records management preferred
Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
Knowledge of basic medical terminology
Advanced knowledge of NextGen EHR or similar application
Knowledgeable of Microsoft office software, the Internet and other software products as needed; general office equipment
Basic knowledge of medical insurance and the ability to clearly and effectively articulate general plan benefits to patients
Outstanding customer service skills
Able to organize and manage large volumes of data and records
Will travel to other offices as needed
Physical Characteristics:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, bend, squat, and kneel as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Auditory acuity should be sufficient as to adequately monitor patient and visitor activity.
