From design to fabrication to installation, we make ideas visible—and we’re looking for the right person to help us keep growing.

Position Overview

Whitfield Signs is seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee projects from initial planning through successful completion. This position serves as a key point of communication between our clients, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and problem solver who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, anticipate issues before they become problems, and keep projects moving on schedule and within scope.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

Manage multiple projects from initial handoff through completion and closeout.

Review project scope, drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.

Develop project timelines and coordinate key milestones.

Track project progress and proactively address delays, conflicts, or missing information.

Ensure projects are completed according to specifications, schedule, budget, and company quality standards.

Takeoffs & Project Planning

Review architectural drawings, sign plans, site plans, and specifications.

Perform and/or coordinate accurate project takeoffs.

Identify materials, quantities, equipment, labor, access requirements, and subcontractor needs.

Confirm field conditions and identify potential installation challenges before work begins.

Work with estimating, purchasing, production, and installation teams to ensure project requirements are clearly understood.

Subcontractor Coordination

Identify, schedule, and coordinate subcontractors as required.

Communicate scope of work, schedules, site requirements, and expectations.

Obtain and review subcontractor pricing when necessary.

Confirm subcontractors have the information and materials required to complete their work.

Monitor subcontractor performance, scheduling, and quality.

Client & General Contractor Communication

Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and general contractors throughout the project.

Attend project meetings and provide timely updates on schedules, approvals, production, and installation.

Coordinate site access, installation dates, inspections, and other project requirements.

Respond professionally and promptly to questions, changes, and concerns.

Build strong working relationships with clients, general contractors, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.

Project Documentation & Coordination

Maintain accurate project files, schedules, drawings, approvals, change orders, and correspondence.

Track submittals, shop drawings, permits, approvals, and other required documentation.

Communicate project changes to all affected departments and parties.

Document additional work and coordinate change orders when project scope changes.

Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and final completion.

Qualifications

Previous project management experience; construction, signage, architectural products, or a related industry preferred.

Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, plans, and specifications.

Experience performing material and project takeoffs.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Comfortable communicating with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.

Proficient with computers, email, spreadsheets, project management software, and digital drawings.

Ability to take ownership of projects and follow through until completion.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Project Manager at Whitfield Signs:

Takes ownership — treats each project as their responsibility from start to finish.

Plans ahead — identifies potential problems before they affect the schedule.

Communicates clearly — keeps clients, contractors, subcontractors, and our internal team informed.

Pays attention to details — verifies drawings, measurements, materials, schedules, and scope.

Gets things done — follows up consistently and keeps projects moving.

Protects the customer experience — represents Whitfield Signs professionally and works to create long-term relationships.

Works as a team — understands that successful projects require coordination between sales, design, production, purchasing, installation, and accounting.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who enjoys being responsible for making things happen. You should be comfortable managing many moving pieces, communicating with different personalities, making decisions, solving problems, and following through.

This is a position for someone who doesn’t simply track projects—they drive projects forward and take ownership of the final results.

  • Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.
  • A collaborative, family-oriented team environment where your work has a visible impact (literally—we make signs!).
