Job Overview

Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, or dump trucks, on over-the-road (OTR) routes to deliver freight efficiently.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper securing of hazardous or dangerous goods in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery schedules and ensure timely arrivals.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking load securement, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and tires in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all deliveries, including logs for hours of service (HOS), delivery receipts, and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery status or any issues encountered during transit.
Experience & Requirements
- 5 years of open deck trailer experience
- Demonstrated ability to self-load and unload various types of freight including telehandlers, loaders, skid steers, excavators, etc..
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving.
- Strong navigation skills utilizing GPS systems for efficient route planning across long-distance OTR routes.
- Knowledge with OW/OD permitting and pilot car requirements
