GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Food Service Supervisor operates the food service programs at all schools in accordance with established policies and Federal and State guidelines. The Food Service Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Business Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Policy and Contracts Administration/Implementation:
- Operates the food service program at all schools, in accordance with established policies and Federal and State guidelines;
- Utilizes appropriate strategies to adhere to nutritional guidelines, menu planning, ordering and purchasing, and recordkeeping;
- Participates as an active member of the District’s wellness committee, including making recommendations, reviewing, and keeping current the District’s wellness policies as related to food service;
- Prepares reports and maintains records regarding the food service program; and,
- Offers recommendations on changes or enhancements to the food service program.
Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Assists the Director of Business Services in preparing the annual budget needed for the operation of the food service program;
- Oversees all food service-related expenditures/revenues and coordinates all bids related to the program;
- Manages the procedures and reconciliations of money transactions in the food service program;
- Offers program recommendations including pricing, food offerings, and services; and,
- Oversees automation and computer systems related to food service programs.
Supervision and Evaluation:
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates the food service staff in conjunction with the principals of each school;
- Remains current on food service programming issues, training, and requirements by participating in education/training opportunities;
- Ensures up-to-date and/or required food service best practices, processes, and procedures as aligned to local, state, and federal standards; and,
- Provides ongoing staff development to food service personnel.
Staff Relations/Recruitment:
- Works closely with other administrators/staff to assure a good working climate; and,
- Participates in the selection of food service personnel.
Association Additional Duties:
- Assists with the preparation of food and in the entire process of the food service operation, as needed; and,
- Accepts All receiving of Food and supplies. Responsible for the unloading of all Food related deliveries a minimum of two days a week.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate, or equivalent, with associated nutritional/food service experience/training; knowledge of school food service programs.
- Minimum two years of work experience in Food Service, within the K-12 setting.

The work environment is in an office that combines standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, computer, 10-key, etc.) with the standard office setting. The work environment also includes school buildings and travel between sites.
