Whitetail Environmental is seeking applicants for a full-time Wildlife Biologist to work on a contract in support of the Environmental Program at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
This position is primarily office-based, with a smaller field component. The work is variable and may include both early mornings and late nights depending on program priorities
Position Summary:
The Wildlife Biologist provides technical support for natural resource management programs, including wildlife surveys, habitat management, GIS data analysis, and regulatory compliance in accordance with DoD, U.S. Army, and state/federal guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Wildlife & Habitat Management
- Conduct surveys and monitoring for non-game, game, migratory bird, and endangered species using accepted scientific protocols
- Collect, analyze, and manage biological data using GIS and databases
- Support development and updates to management plans (e.g., INRMP, watershed, species-specific plans)
- Develop habitat, species distribution, and environmental maps using GIS
- Monitor wildlife populations and habitat conditions, including amphibians, small mammals, birds, and aquatic species
- Assist with prescribed fire planning and operations
Water, Wetlands & Environmental Compliance
- Conduct wetland delineations, hydrologic determinations, and stream assessments in compliance with NEPA, CWA, and USACE guidance
- Perform water quality monitoring and aquatic habitat assessments
- Support watershed management and erosion identification efforts
- Maintain environmental databases and prepare required reports
Migratory Bird & Airfield Programs
- Conduct migratory bird surveys, population monitoring, and reporting
- Support Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH/WASH) programs
- Monitor and maintain nesting structures (e.g., wood duck boxes, eagle nests)
- Participate in regional bird census and outreach activities
Game & Aquatic Species Management
- Conduct surveys for deer, turkey, quail, and other game species
- Support hunting program data tracking and reporting (iSportsman)
- Assist with food plot management, invasive species control, and habitat improvements
- Coordinate fish stocking and conduct fisheries assessments
Endangered Species Support
- Conduct surveys and monitoring for threatened and endangered species, including bats
- Assist with ESA compliance, biological assessments, and mitigation measures
- Maintain species databases and support Section 7 consultation requirements
iSportsman System Support
- Maintain and update iSportsman system for hunting/fishing access and reporting
- Provide customer support and data analysis for recreational use
- Generate weekly, monthly, and annual reports
Public Outreach
- Develop materials and support outreach events (e.g., Earth Day, Public Lands Day)
- Engage with local community and stakeholders
Qualifications (Education and Experience):
· Contractor should have a functional knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, ESRI GIS software applications necessary for collection, interpretation, recording, and storage of biological data. Degree in wildlife, biological systems, ecology, or related biological science is required.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
· Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license
· Must be able to obtain and maintain Department of Army background investigation
· Must have U.S. citizenship
· Must be able to pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Direct Reports: No supervisory role
Travel: As may be required within the CONUS, to attend meetings, conferences, and other events

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
