Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining a sterile environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent patient service skills, and a thorough understanding of laboratory techniques and medical terminology.
Duties
- Collect blood samples and ensure proper patient identification.
- Prepare and position patients for blood draws with care and professionalism.
- Label, process, centrifuge, and package specimens for lab transport (e.g., LabCorp).
- Enter patient data into EMR and lab systems accurately.
- Perform equipment quality control and maintain clinical supplies.
- Maintain accurate patient records and uphold confidentiality standards.
- Follow infection control and OSHA safety protocols, including PPE usage.
- Participate in chart audits, routine reporting, and quality assurance efforts.
- Assist with training new staff and attend required meetings and in-services.
- Communicate effectively with staff and follow all mandated reporting guidelines.
EDUCATION: High school or GED required. Phlebotomists with on the job training or have taken a class which prepares student for the option of taking a certification exam.
EXPERIENCE: One year of work experience/documented training, preferably in a clinic.
