What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Cashier Part Time position at Whites Ace Hardware & Garden Center?
Work the White’s Way
Ready to help your neighbors? Wear the red vest. We'll teach you the rest.
White's is an independently owned Ace store, run by the White family since 1977. In all three of our stores, we greet customers right away, ask what they're working on, and stay with them until they have a real answer.
What you'll do
Welcome customers, ring up purchases and handle returns accurately. Answer the questions you can, and bring in a teammate when someone needs help elsewhere in the store. Before close, reset the checkout area so the store is ready for the next morning, and help with nearby stocking when it's quiet.
Who this work suits
You don't need cashier experience. We'll teach you the register. You do need to pay attention, enjoy short conversations with customers, and show up for every evening and weekend shift you're scheduled. If you'd like a job with less time at the counter, ask us about our support roles.
Qualifications:- Raises you can see coming. A pay review every year, based on customer service, operations and training goals posted in the breakroom.
- A team bonus twice a year. When your store hits its sales growth target and its goals, the whole team shares in it, up to two weeks' pay.
- Paid holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. We also close at 5 p.m. on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
- A real employee discount. 15% off regular-priced items, and cost plus 3% on anything $50 or more, for you and the family you live with.
- Retirement savings. A SIMPLE IRA with a company match of up to 3% of your pay once you qualify for the plan.
Pay reviews, bonus, paid holidays and benefits begin after your first 60 days.
