What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Engineer position at Whitehouse Search?
We are currently seeking to appoint a Facility Operations Lead for a client operating at the forefront of AI infrastructure and hyperscale data center deployment. The business is scaling quickly and building out high-density environments to support next-generation compute. This is a senior, hands-on role focused on critical infrastructure within the data center environment. You’ll act as the on-site subject matter expert across power, cooling, and facility systems, taking ownership of risk, performance, and reliability across the site.
You’ll be trusted to lead from the front during incidents, manage high-risk maintenance, and work closely with vendors and partners to ensure infrastructure performs as expected. There is a strong technical element to the role, but also a level of ownership and influence across how sites are operated and improved over time.
Key responsibilities:
• Acting as the SME for critical infrastructure including power and cooling systems
• Managing risk, maintenance programs, and change control for live environments
• Leading incident response onsite and coordinating with engineering teams
• Supporting commissioning, build-out, and infrastructure upgrades
• Working closely with vendors, partners, and internal teams to maintain performance
This role will suit someone with a strong background in mission-critical environments who understands how data center infrastructure actually behaves in real-world conditions. You’ll likely come from an electrical or mechanical background and be comfortable working across generators, UPS, cooling systems, and redundancy design. It requires someone who can operate independently, stay calm under pressure, and make decisions in live environments without over-reliance on process.
This is a great opportunity to step into a role with real ownership at site level, within a business that is scaling quickly and expects high standards.
