TITLE: Middle School Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal and Athletic Coordinator
JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Ohio certification/licensure
- Bachelor’s degree
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coaches’ individual participants in the basic skills necessary for participation in the sport at this level and beyond.
- Schedules and plans a regular program of practice before and during the season, adhering to the OHSAA guidelines.
- Works closely with the athletic coordinator.
- Maintains necessary forms and records.
- Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
- Maintains discipline to protect student athletes.
- Oversees and maintains the safety conditions of the facilities and equipment.
- Enforces the district’s policy regarding eligibility and code of conduct.
- Enforces self-discipline and sportsman-like behavior at all times.
- Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.
- Oversees the duties and activities of assistant coaches as required.
- Inventories equipment and supplies and reports to athletic coordinator.
- Maintains close working relationship with varsity head coach.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
- May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
- Excellent observation and communication skills
- Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips
- Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
- Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.
