TITLE: Assistant Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: Head Coach/ Athletic Director/Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Ohio certification/licensure
- Bachelor’s degree
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Head Coach in the following:
- Coaching individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
- Working closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
- Recommending purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
- Maintaining necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and other paperwork.
- Overseeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
- Establishing performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport.
- Enforcing discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishing and overseeing penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
- Maintaining communication with parents & parent organizations.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
- May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
- Excellent observation and communication skills
- Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips
- Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
- Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.
