Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavyduty trucks, light vans, and commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair major mechanical and hydraulic systems including engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, drivetrain, steering, and electrical systems.
- Conduct thorough inspections, identify potential issues, and provide accurate diagnoses before repairs.
- Use diagnostic tools, computerized scan equipment, hand and power tools to troubleshoot problems.
- Perform preventive maintenance including fluid changes, filter replacements, lubrication, tire checks/rotations, and safety inspections.
- Conduct roadtests or equipment operation tests to confirm repairs and ensure proper function before return to service.
- Maintain accurate work orders, service logs, repair records, and documentation.
- Collaborate with parts department or supply chain to order and track required parts and materials.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with all safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
- Assist fellow technicians or apprentices if required, and contribute to a teamworkoriented shop culture.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience working on heavyduty trucks or commercial vehicles in a shop or fleet environment (or equivalent vocational/technical education in diesel/truck mechanics).
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills across engine, hydraulic, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment, read schematics/blueprints, and interpret technical repair manuals.
- Physical ability to lift heavy parts (up to 75lbs or more), stand for extended periods, and work under shop conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. CDL or heavyduty endorsement is a plus (if role includes roadtesting or transportation duties).
- Strong work ethic, good communication skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
