The Maintenance Technician IV is a highly skilled maintenance professional responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining plant machinery, equipment, and facility systems. The Maintenance Technician IV plays a key role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of Maintenance Technician Levels I, II, and III.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other production equipment issues.
- Provide advanced maintenance support for plant machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures, and control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals.
- Connect electrical components including transformers, circuit breakers, motors, sensors, and control devices.
- Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using meters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Fabricate sheet metal components, machine guards, and other maintenance-related parts as required.
- Plan and execute equipment installations, modifications, relocations, and upgrades.
- Inspect machinery and equipment to identify hazards, defects, and opportunities for improvement.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to restore operation.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for recurring equipment issues.
- Move, align, level, and install machinery as required by business needs.
- Assist and mentor Maintenance Technician III personnel and other maintenance team members.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, work orders, and preventative maintenance tasks within the CMMS system (Maximo).
- Maintain department 5S standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work safely and comply with all company policies, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Support compliance with IATF, ISO 14001, OSHA, and other applicable quality and safety requirements.
- Work overtime and respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced troubleshooting experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Experience using diagnostic and testing equipment such as multimeters, voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, and related tools.
- Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, controls, motors, drives, sensors, and automation systems.
- Experience performing equipment installation, alignment, and repair.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and physically demanding environments when required.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably Maximo.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical maintenance activities including standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation systems.
- Experience with robotics, servo systems, and VFDs.
- Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent technical certification.
- Welding, fabrication, and machining experience.
- Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Leadership or mentoring experience within a maintenance department.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and other manufacturing quality systems.
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program in industrial maintenance, electrical maintenance, or a related trade.
- Technical certifications related to industrial maintenance, electrical systems, automation, PLCs, or mechanical systems.
