Senior Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Automation
Location: Southern Wisconsin
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Pay: $100,000-$135,000 (DOE)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering and automation team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys designing mechanical systems, solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and helping mentor other engineers.
You’ll work on custom automation and industrial equipment projects from design through installation and startup.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop mechanical systems for custom automation and industrial equipment
- Create and review mechanical designs, drawings, details, and pneumatic diagrams
- Work with customers and internal teams to understand project requirements
- Help organize engineering activities and keep projects moving forward
- Review designs completed by other engineers and provide technical guidance
- Mentor junior engineers and designers
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend practical solutions
- Support equipment installation, testing, and startup
- Travel to customer sites as needed
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
- 5 years of mechanical engineering or machine design experience
- Experience designing industrial machinery, automation equipment, or custom equipment
- Strong 3D CAD and mechanical design skills
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical components, and pneumatics
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities
- Comfortable communicating directly with customers
- Previous mentoring or project leadership experience is a plus
