Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas to deter and detect criminal activity and maintain public order.
- Respond promptly to calls for service, including emergencies and routine incidents.
- Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations; issue citations as necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to enhance public safety.
- Provide first aid and CPR as needed in emergency situations.
- Engage with the community through outreach programs to build trust and rapport.
- Handle animals in distress or involved in incidents with care and professionalism.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related fields is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must be 21 years of age at time of hire
- Must pass a physical agility test
- Must pass extensive background investigation
- Must pass a polygraph
- Must pass psychological exam
- Must pass extensive medical exam
- Completion of police academy training or equivalent law enforcement training program is preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of criminal investigation techniques and loss prevention strategies.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately when necessary.
- Proficiency in first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with the public and colleagues.
