Property Accountant

Position Summary

The Property Accountant is responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions for the property management portfolio, brokerage division, and corporate operations. This role handles accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, reconciliations, and assists the Controller with monthly and annual financial close. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

• Receive, input, and code vendor invoices for brokerage and property management.
• Process AP payments and pair checks with invoices for manager signatures.
• Mail invoices and maintain organized AP files.
• Prepare deposit slips, make bank deposits, and submit slips to Controller.
• Post tenant payments and corporate payables (credit cards, commissions, reimbursements).
• Oversee all utility account setups and billing transfers with multiple utility companies.

Tenant & Property Accounting

• Post utility charges and repair/maintenance expenses to tenant ledgers.
• Oversee tenant recovery and annual reconciliation process.
• Maintain accurate tenant accounts and support property managers as needed.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

• Assist Controller with monthly bank reconciliations.
• Support preparation of investor/owner statements.
• Post investment activity and reconcile investment balances.
• Assist with year-end close, including 1099s, tax documents, and audit preparation.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting, AP/AR, or property management accounting preferred.
• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software (Yardi preferred).
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Excellent time management skills
