Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery, utilizing advanced clinical techniques.
- Perform dental X-rays and operate digital imaging equipment such as 3D scanners to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare and process dental instruments and sterilize equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take vital signs, medical histories, and assess patient comfort to facilitate comprehensive patient management and care delivery.
- Support dental reception duties by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and maintaining effective communication with patients regarding treatment plans.
- Adhere to clinical confidentiality policies while documenting medical records accurately and coding procedures appropriately for billing purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and dental instrument processing.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with dental equipment such as X-ray machines, digital imaging tools (including 3D scanners), and sterilization devices.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for efficient patient data management.
- Expertise in infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards to prevent cross-contamination and ensure safety.
- Ability to perform dental X-rays accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles when working with children or special needs patients.
