Duties
- Assist dentists with complex procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while ensuring adherence to radiation safety standards and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform chairside assisting duties including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient management to promote comfort and safety.
- Educate patients on oral health care, dental procedures, and post-treatment instructions with clear communication of dental terminology.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed to optimize clinic efficiency.
Requirements
- Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant with proven experience in general dentistry; experience in pediatric dentistry or specialized fields like prosthodontics is a plus.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, X-ray operation, and oral surgery support.
- Strong knowledge of dental equipment operation, medical terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records accurately.
- Ability to perform medical documentation tasks accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
