Under the direction of the Supervisor of Cardiac Ultrasound the Registered Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for accurately performing ultrasound studies such as: Echocardiograms, Stress/Dobutamine Echocardiograms, and Transesophageal Echocardiograms. Holter Monitor scanning is also performed.
Essential Functions
- Safely and appropriately performs standard and special electrode placement and/or transducer usage for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Proficient in performance of all diagnostic testing and procedures including. echocardiograms, cardiac doppler studies, transesophageal echocardiograms, stress/ dobutamine stress echocardiograms, contrast imaging, Holter monitor application and scanning, and basic ECG.
- Accurately completes at least 10 studies and appropriate documentation in an eight-hour shift.
- Assists in training other technicians as directed by supervisor.
- Demonstrate competency in cardiovascular echocardiography and able to perform echocardiograms without supervision.
- Must be able to recognize abnormal structure and correlate the information, with clinical history, into findings report.
- Consults with ordering and/or reading provider and contribute professional knowledge.

Experience
- Up six-months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- BLS
- Must be registered as a Cardiac Sonographer with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiac Sonography Credentialing International (CCI).
