The White River Valley Supervisory Union (WRVSU) is posting the search for the position of Business Manager. The WRVSU serves the schools and communities of Bethel, Chelsea, Granville, Hancock, Rochester, Royalton, Sharon, Stockbridge, Strafford, and Tunbridge. We are seeking a student-centered and highly dedicated business administrator to join the WRVSU Leadership Team to serve the children and families of the White River Valley Supervisory Union. Responsibilities for this full-time position include budgeting, planning, organizing, supervising and leading the fiscal, maintenance/facilities, and food service operations of the White River Valley Supervisory Union and member School Districts.
Ideal candidates will have a confirmed history of sound financial management, hands-on experience with fund accounting, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, collaboration with a team and cultivating and maintaining good relationships throughout the work environment. Further, ideal candidates will have experience in the financial oversight of capital improvements, transportation, collective bargaining, food service, grant reporting and oversight, benefits, payroll, risk management and staff supervision.
White River Valley Supervisory Union serves nearly 1,700 students. We are committed to personalization, community, and sustainability as priorities that are visible. The SU has just completed a revised strategic plan (25-28), and a Communications and Outreach Plan (24-27). The White River Valley Supervisory Union is composed of 6 member school districts.
The Business Manager is under the supervision of the Superintendent. This position would also aid the Superintendent in planning, organizing, and directing business functions to assure the financial well-being of the Districts. The position would supervise all employees of the Business Office which consists of accounting, payroll, HR specialist, accounts payable and Child Nutrition creating a collaborative team environment to efficiently and effectively provide business services necessary to support the District’s mission and goals. The Business Manager is responsible for the preparation of the annual budget documents, audits, communicating and collaborating with the District staff regarding business services, reporting key changes and events to the Superintendent for the monthly board reports, and overseeing business service operations and daily activities. The Business Manager is expected to exercise judgment mindful of District policy/procedure and demonstrate sound accounting practices.
*Preferred candidates must have experience with Vermont school finance and reporting.
