Job Title: Engineering Teacher - PLTW Certification preferred
White River Valley High School is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and student-centered educator to serve as a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Engineering Teacher. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore engineering concepts through hands-on, project-based learning experiences while fostering critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
The PLTW Engineering Teacher will deliver rigorous curriculum aligned with PLTW standards and Indiana Academic Standards, preparing students for postsecondary education and careers in engineering, technology, manufacturing, and related STEM fields.
Essential Responsibilities
- Teach PLTW Engineering courses in accordance with PLTW curriculum requirements and district expectations.
- Develop and implement engaging, hands-on instructional activities that promote student learning and achievement.
- Utilize project-based learning strategies to facilitate real-world engineering design challenges.
- Maintain a safe and organized laboratory/classroom environment.
- Integrate industry-relevant technology, equipment, and software into instruction.
- Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, counselors, administrators, and community partners to support student success.
- Participate in required PLTW Core Training and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance.
- Support student participation in STEM-related extracurricular activities, competitions, and career exploration opportunities.
- Build partnerships with local businesses, industries, and postsecondary institutions to enhance engineering education opportunities.
QualificationsRequired
- Valid Indiana teaching license or eligibility for Indiana licensure.
- Ability to meet PLTW instructor certification requirements.
- Strong knowledge of engineering, technology, design processes, and STEM education practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports all students.
Preferred
- Current PLTW certification in one or more PLTW Engineering courses.
- Teaching experience in engineering, technology education, STEM, manufacturing, or related fields.
- Industry experience in engineering, design, manufacturing, or technology-related professions.
- Experience with CAD software, 3D printing, robotics, automation, or related technologies.
Salary and Benefits
Salary and benefits are commensurate with education and experience and are provided according to district policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
