Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management protocols
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support and managing dental instruments efficiently (four-handed dentistry)
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and radiation safety protocols
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software to document treatment details accurately while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient care and ensure proper treatment planning
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions related to dental terminology and procedures with clarity and professionalism
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by processing dental instruments, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to infection control standards aligned with healthcare infection prevention and control expertise
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic or healthcare setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures
- Dentrix; proficiency in using patient management software is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures including X-ray techniques and dental instrument processing
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control policies
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient patient care delivery
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatric dentistry cases
