Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for finishing by sanding, cleaning, and applying stains or paints.
- Apply finishes such as varnishes, lacquers, or oils to enhance the appearance of furniture.
- Repair and restore damaged furniture using appropriate techniques and materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand project specifications.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in the finishing process.
- Collaborate with carpenters and other tradespeople on restoration projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards.
Skills
- Proficiency in woodworking techniques including trim carpentry, frame carpentry, and cabinet installation.
- Experience with various hand tools, power tools, and machinery used in furniture finishing.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Capability of performing heavy lifting as required during the finishing process.
- Previous experience in the restoration industry is highly desirable.
