About the CompanyA growing diesel repair shop in the Cleburne, TX area is looking for skilled and dependable Diesel Technicians to join the team. We are focused on quality repairs, strong communication, organized shop operations, and keeping customer vehicles moving.We are looking for technicians who take pride in their work, can complete jobs efficiently, document repairs properly, log time accurately, and work well in a team shop environment.Position SummaryThe Diesel Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining diesel vehicles, trucks, and related equipment. This position requires strong mechanical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to properly document work through NAPA TRACS.This is a flag-rate position. Technicians are paid based on completed labor hours/flagged time for approved repair work. The right candidate should be motivated, productive, organized, and able to complete quality repairs efficiently.CompensationThis position is paid on a flag-rate basis.Technician earnings are based on:

- Experience and skill level
- Productivity
- Quality of completed repairs
- Ability to properly document and close out jobs
Exact flag rate will be discussed during the interview and will be based on experience and qualifications.Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel vehicles, trucks, and related equipment.
- Perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs.
- Complete approved repairs efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
- Identify needed parts and communicate parts needs clearly to management or the parts department.
- Properly utilize NAPA TRACS to review assigned jobs, update job status, and document repair information.
- Add clear and accurate notes in NAPA TRACS, including diagnosis, work performed, parts needed, and job status.
- Log time accurately for each assigned job.
- Notify management when additional repairs are needed, when a job is delayed, or when a job is completed.
- Participate in the mandatory Monday morning meeting every Monday at 8:15 AM to review open jobs, parts status, and weekly job assignments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and shop standards.
- Work professionally with management, parts personnel, office staff, and other technicians.
NAPA TRACS and Documentation ExpectationsTechnicians are required to use NAPA TRACS as part of the daily repair process. Job notes should clearly document:
- Customer concern
- Diagnostic findings
- Cause of issue, when known
- Repairs performed
- Parts needed or installed
- Additional recommended repairs
- Job status, including waiting on parts, waiting on approval, in progress, or completed
- Time logged for the job
Accurate documentation is required so the shop can communicate properly with customers, track job progress, order parts correctly, and close out work orders properly.Required Qualifications
- Diesel repair or automotive repair experience.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to complete quality repairs efficiently.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, shop equipment, and repair resources.
- Ability to document work clearly and accurately.
- Basic computer skills and willingness to use NAPA TRACS daily.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on diesel trucks, medium-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, or fleet vehicles.
- Experience with preventative maintenance, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, drivability, and engine-related repairs.
- Prior shop experience using repair order software or time-tracking systems.
- Experience working in a flag-rate or production-based pay environment.
- ASE certifications or diesel-related training are a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, reach, and work in a shop environment.
- Ability to lift parts, tools, and equipment as needed.
- Ability to work around vehicles, machinery, fluids, noise, and normal shop conditions.
- Ability to perform hands-on mechanical work for extended periods.
