Our client is an established and growing software technology company delivering specialist SaaS solutions to clients operating in complex, safety-critical and asset-intensive industries worldwide.
As part of continued growth and investment in product development, they are seeking to recruit a Software Quality Assurance Team Lead to take ownership of software quality strategy, testing standards and QA team leadership.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, you will lead the Software Quality Assurance function across a portfolio of leading-edge software products.
You will play a key role in shaping quality strategy, improving testing processes, developing automation capabilities and ensuring software releases meet the highest standards of functionality, performance, security and usability.
Working closely with Product Management, Software Engineering, Customer Success and Operations teams, you will act as the organisation's champion for software quality.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Software QA Analysts and Test Engineers
- Set performance expectations and support career development
- Allocate testing resources and manage priorities
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching and ongoing development discussions
- Support recruitment and onboarding activities
Quality Assurance Strategy
- Develop and maintain QA standards, frameworks and methodologies
- Establish quality metrics and reporting processes
- Promote a quality-first culture throughout the organisation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Influence product and release planning from a quality perspective
Testing & Release Management
- Oversee test planning, test execution and release readiness
- Ensure appropriate functional, integration, regression, performance and user acceptance testing is completed
- Coordinate testing across multiple development streams
- Provide release recommendations and quality assessments
- Maintain traceability between requirements, testing activities and defects
Automation & Process Improvement
- Expand and enhance automated testing capabilities
- Improve efficiency through tooling and automation
- Collaborate with development teams on CI/CD integration
- Establish quality gates and release criteria
Risk & Defect Management
- Lead defect management and prioritisation activities
- Identify recurring quality issues and root causes
- Assess software quality risks associated with releases
- Support incident investigations and continuous improvement activities
About You
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and technically competent Software QA professional with previous experience leading software quality activities within a SaaS or software development environment.
The ideal candidate:
- Degree qualified in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline
- Demonstrable experience within Software Quality Assurance
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or managing QA professionals
- Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies
- Experience testing web-based SaaS applications
- Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and quality automation strategies
- Experience working within CI/CD environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working with defect tracking and test management tools
Experience within industrial technology, engineering software, energy technology, asset management systems or other technically complex B2B software environments would be advantageous.
