JOB TITLE: Social Emotional Tech JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists in planning and implementing all aspects of the Social-Emotional Intervention Program by providing a safe, nurturing and secure learning environment to improve the social emotional development of children and their approaches to learning. Works to ensure that all aspects of the program meet or exceed all requirements set forth in funding agency(s) regulations, other requirements as set forth by the governing agency and follows all established policies and procedures. SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES: 1. Works cooperatively with the service area team (may include Center Director, Behavior Interventionist Specialist, Teachers, Program Specialist, Curriculum Coach and Mental Health Consultants and/or all other staff members) in the planning and implementation of the objectives of the Social Emotional Intervention program. 2. Assists with supervising by sight and sound and implementing appropriate interventions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children. 3. Respects and responds appropriately to the culture, language, values and family structures of each child/family served. 4. Records observations and progress of children. 5. Serves as a model for children, parents, staff and community members. 6. Assists in supporting the social and emotional development of children and in developing selfregulation skills to provide a means for children to effectively and constructively express their feelings, emotions and ideas by modeling and implementing de-escalation and other behavioral strategies and interventions. 7. Implements a daily Check-in/Check-out system and daily schedule for individual students. 8. Models and implements de-escalation strategies. 9. Models and conducts social/emotional classroom lessons. 10. Enters accurate and timely information into program software as assigned by supervisor. 11. Attends all staff meetings, parent meetings, IEP meetings, etc. as required by supervisor. 12. Participates in pre-service/in-service training, securing a minimum of 15 hours of training/year, and maintains an up-to-date list of all training received. 13. Assists in the recruitment of enrollees for the program. 14. Serves as an advocate and spokesperson for families. 15. Works collaboratively with other staff in expanding visibility of the program within the community to promote development of partnerships with other agencies. 16. Follows work scheduling, attendance and reporting requirements relating to tardiness/absences. 17. Maintains confidentiality and adheres to the agency technology policy. 18. Continues formal professional development as required by agency. 19. Obtains and maintains 1st Aid / CPR training. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Ability to use correct grammar, verbally & written, in communicating with adults as well as young children. 2. Ability to accept supervision and to follow directions with minimum instructions. 3. Ability to be tolerant and flexible. 4. Ability to read and comprehend the English language. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Minimum of a credential or degree recognized by funding source. 2. Experience in working with pre-school age children, including those with special needs. 3. Has adequate transportation and/or has access to a vehicle that can be used on the job. Page 2 of 2 4. Knowledgeable of resources within the community. 5. Aware of the cultural and language diversity of the children/families in the community. 6. Must be 18 years of age. 7. Must secure acceptable criminal records check and satisfactorily complete a drug screening. 8. Knowledgeable of basic computer skills and predominant software. As a Social Emotional Tech, it is expected that you will behave in a professional manner, especially while representing our Agency, Head Start or Georgia’s Pre-K Program. Your conduct will follow recognized professional standards and preserve the dignity and integrity of the early childhood education profession. While in your role as a Social Emotional Tech, you shall refrain from any behavior or action that might shock, insult, offend the community, diminish your ability to interact professionally with others or otherwise bring disgrace or infamy upon yourself, the Agency or Head Start/Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
