The Senior VDC Engineer supports the VDC Director in advancing WCC’s digital project delivery efforts through model-based coordination, standardized workflows, automation, and the integration of AI and data-driven insight.
This role leads project-level VDC execution, develops and maintains company standards, and supports the adoption of emerging technology across the organization. It is a highly visible position working closely with Operations, Preconstruction, and Marketing, and offers a clear growth path into future VDC leadership roles as the department expands.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery & Coordination - 50%
- Lead VDC Execution Plans (VDCxP), kickoff meetings, and weekly coordination sessions.
- Manage 3D models, constructability reviews, and clash coordination using ACC and Navisworks Manage.
- Develop 2D/3D logistics visuals, 4D simulations, and construction-sequence animations.
- Perform Assemble analysis and 2D overlay checks across structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines.
- Collaborate with Operations, Preconstruction, and Marketing to align models with schedule, procurement, communication needs, and maintain ongoing VDC QA/QC
- Maintain WCC’s VDC standards, templates, and workflows.
- Develop and update Dynamo scripts, automation processes, and ACC project setup workflows.
- Support VDC governance, including RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) ownership and cross-department alignment.
- Pilot and evaluate emerging technologies (AI tools, predictive analytics, digital twins, computer vision).
- Convert successful R&D outcomes into standardized workflows, dashboards, and training materials.
- Deliver VDC training and onboarding (Navisworks Freedom, ACC, Assemble, 2D overlays).
- Develop micro-learning content, quick guides, and workflow resources.
- Mentor project engineers and field staff on VDC workflows and coordination practices.
- Provide technical support across Revit, Navisworks, ACC, SketchUp, Rhino, Twinmotion, Unreal.
- Train future VDC hires and help build internal VDC competency as department grows.
- Produce renderings, animations, and sequence visuals (Twinmotion, Unreal Engine).
- Support BD/Marketing with proposal visuals and logistics storytelling.
- Prepare dashboards and analytics for leadership, project teams, and client meetings.
- Represent VDC in kickoff, coordination, and closeout meetings.
- Track VDC performance metrics and support VDC roadmap execution.
Required
- 3-5 years of hands-on VDC experience in both office and field environments.
- Strong capability in model coordination, constructability, sequencing, and digital-to-field workflows.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Portfolio required showing VDC coordination, visuals, automation (Dynamo/Python), dashboards (Power BI), or drone photogrammetry. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
- Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks Manage, Sketchup, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Experience with Twinmotion or Unreal Engine.
- Rhino skills.
- Drone photogrammetry and orthomosaic generation (DroneDeploy or similar).
- Experience with Dynamo, Python, Power BI, Assemble.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or others).
- Minimal travel as needed (approximately 5-10%, depending on project locations and field support requirements).
