Major Tasks, Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities
- Manages lab staff, schedules, and workload priorities.
- Serves as primary liaison with engineering, quality, and external testing agencies.
- Ensures adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Oversees budget, equipment procurement, and maintenance.
- Drives strategic improvements in testing capabilities and lab processes.
- Troubleshoots test methods, reviewing results and reporting.
- Solutions require analysis and investigation.
- Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
- Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7 years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- 7 years of lab experience with leadership responsibilities.
- 2 years of management experience.
- Certification in quality systems (ISO 17025) and experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean).
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
