Title: Kitchen Manager
Reports to: Child Care Programs Director
Job Description: The Kitchen Manager is responsible for the meal service program and compliance with all USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and print monthly meal menus in accordance with nutritional guidelines and food restrictions
- Prepare breakfast, lunch and snack daily for 35-80 children
- Maintain compliance with all required USDA documentation
- Sending in monthly meal sheets and enrollment forms
- Promote healthy eating habits through nutritious meals and snacks
- Work cooperatively with classroom teaching staff to prepare meals and snacks that are both healthy and appealing to young children
- Maintain an accurate inventory of food and kitchen items
- Conduct shopping trips (if additional items are needed)
- Submit orders for Commodity Foods
- Prepare and submit food orders through Sysco
- Act as an Ambassador for White Birch, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times both on and off site
- Administer food program within budgetary limits
- Maintain kitchen in a clean and organized manner to comply with all health and food safety requirements
- Participate in occasional after hour family engagement events
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of food preparation
- Knowledge of USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program
- Ability to complete paperwork appropriately
- Ability to compute math equations for the purpose of cooking and preparing meals and snack
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations
- Physical requirements include the ability to bend, stretch, and stoop repetitively; lift up to 40 pounds; climb up and down stairs; have mobility required to cook in a commercial size kitchen
Educational Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must have prior cooking experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to successfully pass a NH Criminal Background Check and a DCYF Central Registry check
- Must have Child Care Health Form completed by health practitioner indicating the ability to work with children upon hire and once every three years
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $22.00 per hour
