What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toddler Aide position at White Bear Montessori School?
White Bear Montessori has been a provider of authentic Montessori education in the White Bear area since 1970. We are an AMI-recognized Montessori program serving children ages 16 months through the 6th grade.
We have one opening supporting our Toddler classroom and one opening supporting a pre-school classroom. These non-teaching roles that support the work of the Guide (teacher) and ensures the safety of the children and cleanliness of the classroom.
Positive and professional communication skills, sensitivity to children and their unique needs, ability to take direction and also work independently. Ability to work in support of the Guide, the prepared Montessori environment for the benefit of the children.
Basic Duties of the Aid include, but shall not necessarily be limited to the following:
- Assists the Guide and Assistant with the care and maintenance of classroom materials, i.e. maintaining an orderly environment and keeping classroom materials stocked as needed
- Repairs material and equipment, as necessary or directed.
- Supervises classroom as directed by the Guide. This includes recess and lunchtimes.
- Shares the responsibility of the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times. The children are not to be left unattended, and classroom ratios must be maintained on the playground as well as inside.
- Reports any and all accidents/incidents at once. Prepares a written report stating the date, time, nature of the accident, and action taken. Makes the Guide aware of the accident/incident.
- Helps supervise children in the execution of fire and tornado drills. T
- Is able to lift 50 pounds and sit on the floor.
- Establishes positive relationships with students, which, while recognizing the differing roles of adult and child, are characterized by mutual respect and goodwill
- Helps maintain an environment that meets or exceeds state health, fire, and child care requirements.
- Notifies Head of School immediately of personal or professional difficulties with children, parents, or staff.
- Protects the peace and privacy of the children at work.
- Is self-aware and self-monitoring.
- Models integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
