OUR PROPERTY
A beloved local landmark for over 150 years, White Barn Inn is synonymous with warm New England hospitality, rustic charm and uncompromising attention to detail. Constructed in the 1860s, White Barn Inn’s original farmhouse has offered superb hospitality since the days of the Civil War. It has operated as the White Barn Inn since 1973. In October 2018, White Barn Inn was acquired by Auberge Resorts Collection, a unique portfolio of the world’s best-loved boutique luxury hotels and resorts. Just a 90-minute drive north of Boston, the inviting property is renowned as one of the country’s most distinctive getaways and features several room types, a pool, massage and spa treatments, gardens and a prime location near the sandy beaches and classic coastal town of Kennebunkport, Maine.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Catering Sales & Events Manager is responsible for contracting social functions in accordance with the collection’s strategic plan to maximize revenue during peak and nonpeak periods. The Catering Sales & Events Manager reports directly to the Director of Food and Beverage with a dotted line to the Area Director of Sales and works closely with the hotel’s executive committee to ensure that the leisure and transient sales strategy is in line with property business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieve revenue goals by generating catering/banquet (inclusive of rooms related revenues) business at White Barn Inn.
- Supervise and support F&B team during breakfast and lunch operations.
- The schedule will flex based on business demand, and event execution however standard hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, weekends if there is an event.
- Support and participate in weekly Revenue Management Calls and monthly conference calls with Regional Director of Sales and property-specific calls as needed.
- Accurately maintain and build the Salesforce database of clients. Responsible for the overall accuracy of the regional database.
- Abide by all policies and procedures of Auberge Resorts.
- Maintain ethical and professional standards of sales service.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor and to conduct personal behavior in a mature and professional business manner while representing the company.
- Travel and work flexible days and hours.
- Keep department heads informed of opportunities so as to ensure prompt correction and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Provide positive, proactive engagement with the property hotel General Managers and Area Director of Sales.
- Provide feedback and goals and objectives in preparation of annual sales plans and budgets.
- Establishes initiatives and executes direct sales objectives to promote Auberge Resorts brand.
- Evaluates promotional events, trade shows, community, and industry events to make sure attendance.
- Work with tourism organizations to maximize regional opportunities.
- Evaluate and initiate opportunities for developing new sources of business.
- Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience
- Minimum 3 years sales experience in a related position in luxury sales environment
- Demonstrated record of driving sales revenues in hospitality environment
- Ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence social business decision-makers and influencers.
- Ability to research and identify top prospects for growth of an existing account and develop new accounts.
- Ability to be self-motivated and achieve goals with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to manage extensive amounts of information.
- Ability to manage Food and Beverage team according to Auberge standards.
- Knowledge of sales procedures associated with the hotel industry.
- Excellent written skills sufficient to produce sales and marketing communication.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Google Docs/Sheets, Powerpoint, Hangout, Linkedin, Salesforce).
- Excellent spoken and presentation skills.
- Strong ability to listen effectively.
- Ability to present clear, concise and meaningful information to owners, guests, executives, managers and employees.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to sell ideas persuasively and energetically.
- Ability to coach and mentor on property Food and Beverage team members.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and understand financial data.
- Ability to maintain a high level of organization.
- Ability to embody the company’s mission, vision & culture.
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy, prioritize, and organize.
- Ability to remain calm when resolving problems using good judgment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
- Vision requirements: the constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arm's reach.
- Hearing requirements: the constant need to speak on the telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to the general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
- Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting the property.
- Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.
- Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. occasionally. Higher weight threshold may apply when traveling with luggage.
