Summary

White Barn Children’s Centre is seeking a passionate Nature Educator to join our nature-based preschool program serving children ages 3–6. Our program centers on outdoor exploration, play-based learning, and meaningful connections with nature throughout all seasons.


We are looking for an educator who is collaborative, creative, and comfortable working outdoors while supporting young children’s curiosity, independence, and love of learning.

Duties

Outdoor Teaching & Learning

  • Lead nature-based learning experiences for children ages 3–6 in outdoor environments year-round.
  • Facilitate developmentally appropriate activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth through play-based learning.


Collaboration & Program Support

  • Work closely with co-teachers and administrators to maintain high-quality programming.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
  • Help maintain outdoor learning spaces, equipment, and program materials as needed.


Communication

  • Communicate regularly with families about classroom experiences.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and student observations.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to the role.


Safety

  • Follow all safety and supervision policies to ensure a safe learning environment for children.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with children in a teaching or childcare setting.
  • Experience in outdoor education, nature-based programming, or environmental education is strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Organized, proactive, and adaptable
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
  • Passion for nature-based learning and early childhood education


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must pass required background checks and employment authorization verification.

Nice To Haves

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Environmental Education, Environmental Studies, Family Studies, or a related field (preferred).
