Primary Teacher (ages 3-6) / Maternity-Leave Role (October 2026-February 2027)

Position Summary

Whitby Montessori Children’s House seeks a warm, enthusiastic full?time teacher for our Primary Program (ages 3–6). The teacher will work within a team to deliver developmentally appropriate instruction, monitor and assess student progress, and communicate regularly with colleagues and families. Montessori pedagogy is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons for ages 3–6
• Support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in a prepared classroom
• Use observation and assessment to monitor growth and inform instruction
• Collaborate closely with team teachers; participate in meetings and planning
• Communicate progress to parents via conferences and written reports
• Supervise daily routines (arrival/dismissal, lunch, recess) and maintain a safe, organized classroom
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, or actively working toward completion
• Early childhood teaching experience; Montessori experience desirable
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
• Positive, open, and professional approach with students, families, and staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Satisfactory completion of a pre?employment background check
