Job Summary
The Help Desk Technician will serve as the first point of contact for IT-related issues within Whitaker Construction. This position will provide technical support to business users, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and assist with system administration tasks as needed. This role is an entry-level position with the expectation that the candidate will grow into Desktop Support, Application Support, Network Support, and Server Support over time.

Provide technical support for computers, mobile devices, printers, software applications, and network connectivity.
Respond to help desk tickets, phone calls, and emails, ensuring timely resolution.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and basic network issues for employees in office and field environments.
Install, configure, and maintain Windows devices, mobile devices, and business-critical applications.
Assist with user account management, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and security permissions.
Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
Educate employees on best practices for cybersecurity, data protection, and IT procedures.
Assist in the setup of new employee workstations and ensure proper IT onboarding.
Document troubleshooting steps and solutions in the IT knowledge base.
Work alongside senior IT staff to gain exposure to networking, server management, and cloud administration.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements to IT processes.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the IT department and business operations.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, networking, and troubleshooting methods.
Ability to diagnose and resolve basic IT issues in a professional and efficient manner.
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and grow within the IT field.
Ability to multitask and handle multiple issues simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required but a Plus)
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
IT certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or Microsoft Fundamentals.
Experience with IT help desk software and remote desktop tools.
Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise-level IT environments.
