Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals promptly
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and assist residents during meal times to promote independence
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning routines and adherence to infection control protocols
- Document care activities accurately in resident records, including patient observations, progress notes, and incident reports
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to foster socialization and mental well-being
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home health environments with individuals who have developmental disabilities or dementia
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care strategies, autism support techniques, and hospice or palliative care practices
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training, and medication administration are highly desirable
- Strong patient observation skills to monitor vital signs and detect changes in health status effectively
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts when necessary
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents, families, and social workers
- Compassionate caregiving attitude with a commitment to respecting residents’ dignity and promoting independence
