What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maternal Fetal Medicine - Faculty position at Whiddon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama?
Overview
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Alabama, Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine College of Medicine is currently recruiting candidates for our vibrant Maternal Fetal Medicine Division at the level of Assistant Professor. The physician will provide outpatient and inpatient consultative services for high risk pregnancies. We have a robust referral base for high risk pregnancies encompassing South Central Alabama and the Gulf Coast. Candidate must have an interest in medical and student education. Special interests in genetics and opioid use during pregnancy are potential areas of growth. There are several new initiatives in our department including Telehealth Medicine.
Our antepartum and Labor and Delivery Units are located at our extraordinary free-standing Children'sand Women's Hospital at the University of South Alabama, which is one of a few free-standing hospitals in the U.S. dedicated specifically to the health needs of children and women. The Level Ill NICU has a capacity of 130 beds. Our faculty practices and AIUM ultrasound units are located in the newly constructed, state of the art Strada Patient Care Center. USA Heath Children's and Women's Hospital is part of the USA Heath Medical Center and Health System. Our department has a strong commitment towards providing high quality medical care to the women of Mobile and the surrounding Gulf Coast and integrating research and education in Women's Health for the next generation of physicians. We have active divisions in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology and Gynecology Oncology services through the Mitchell Cancer Institute.
Qualified candidates must have an MO/DO degree, successfully completed a 4-year ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology resident program and completed an ABOG recognized Maternal Fetal Medicine program. Candidate must be BC/BE in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine. Licensure by the Alabama Medical Board will be required prior to commencement of employment.
