Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s personal assistance devices
- Monitor patient health by checking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Administer medications safely following prescribed care plans and document all medication administration activities precisely
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation to promote healthy living
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning resident areas, laundry, and ensuring infection control standards are met
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents or clients, fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere
- Follow established care plans diligently while collaborating with healthcare professionals such as nurses or social workers to deliver comprehensive patient care
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health agencies, or group homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care strategies
- Hands-on experience with patient monitoring tools and safety equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s
assist devices - Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality protocols in healthcare settings
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders is advantageous
- Strong background in caregiving roles involving long-term care or hospice environments is desirable
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or specialized dementia training are a plus
