PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Psychological Assistant
Reports to: Office Manager
Location: 65 N. Madison Ave #707, Pasadena CA 91101
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary: Negotiable
Summary/Objective:
Under close supervision of a licensed psychologist, the psychological assistant will provide limited psychological services including administering and scoring psychological tests, screening and evaluating patients, writing reports, assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and providing therapy services.
Responsibilities:
● May provide family, individual, and group therapy to a myriad of psychological clients including first responders.
● May interview patients in clinics, hospitals, and other settings and studies medical and social case histories.
● May assist licensed psychologist with chart review, treatment review, and other clinical administrative duties.
● With oversight, completes and reviews psychological assessments.
● Functions interpersonally within an interdisciplinary team context.
● Documents therapy in accordance with policies and procedures regarding medical records; implements and adheres to policies which ensure patient confidentiality.
● Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, clinician meetings, and workshops to enhance professional development and maintain currency of methodology and techniques.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
● Doctorate degree in psychology or education with the field of specialization in psychology or counseling psychology, required.
● Must be registered with the board as a “psychological assistant” or be willing to become registered. (Any person who meets the requirements of section 2913 of the Business and Professions Code (B&P) may apply to be registered as a psychological assistant using application form PSB 100 (rev. 10/16).
● Compassionate and empathetic with a strong ability to establish and build trust.
● Excellent listening and time management skills.
● Ability to remain calm and reassuring in tense situations and to de-escalate arguments.
● Thorough understanding of human behavior, various behavioral and affective disorders, and the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of these disorders.
● Organizational skills required to manage complex, deadline-driven paperwork including billing and insurance claims.
● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
● Thorough understanding of applicable ethical codes and standards.
● Current awareness of developments in relevant fields.
● Ability to maintain and complete clinical documentation consistently.
Preferred:
- Experience working with Spanish speaking population in psychological assessment.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum or intellectual disabilities.
Pay: From $50.00 per hour
