Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, The Director of Supply Chain is responsible and accountable for developing the personnel, processes and systems that will ensure aviation parts and materials are available for and delivered to aircraft in the Wheels Up fleet in a timely and cost-efficient manner in support of initiatives to reduce maintenance event span time and maintain maintenance parts costs within budget. They will use their industry experience and relationships to manage the technical supply chain to the benefit of Wheels Up. The Director of Supply Chain will build and develop a team to support inventory planning, inventory performance analysis, procurement of consumable, expendable and rotable inventory, AOG procurement, expediting, warranty administration, core management/returns and management of on-site inventory and tooling supporting aircraft maintenance.
Responsibilities
Your Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Ensure all activities related to aircraft parts and materials are managed with safety and compliance as the core operating principal.
- Creation and continuous improvement of operating policies and procedures to cover all purchasing, shipping, storing, inventory control, core management and vendor selection.
- Develop and ensure adherence to finance and process controls
- Implement key ‘business change’ objectives:
- Develop and execute an inventory planning and purchasing strategy including inventory performance analytics and measurements.
- Own and develop the purchasing process methodology including stocked items, AOG procurement and expediting.
- Lead the operational implementation of a robust PO process facilitating 3-way match, robust GRNI (Goods Received No Invoice) output.
- Develop a robust core management process to ensure all cores are returned as soon as possible and credits are received in a timely fashion.
- Establish processes to ensure all warranties and parts support programs are fully utilized.
- Work with the Group's Business Process Manager to design and deliver changes to the Corridor MRO system and/or associated processes.
- Create and roll-out appropriate procedures nationwide in conjunction with Wheels Up Part 135 Directors of Maintenance and Part 145 Accountable Managers to support parts requirements.
- Design and deliver training to educate relevant operational staff on the process and policy requirements, i.e., timely receipts against PO's, aging of open PO's etc.
- Create Department measurements and performance reports in support of the agreed-upon department goals.
- Support the financial month-end process by identifying expenses incurred for matching of invoices received verses not received.
- Integrate operational outputs with finance, validate financial positions, etc.
- Implement warehouse inventory procedures and controls and interface with Finance team.
- Ensure robust and transparent inventory management.
- Maintain vendor portfolio, negotiate appropriate contracts, and discount structures.
- Create and maintain pricing profiles to various customer profiles.
- Manage and mentor team based at sites around the country.
- Participate in annual budgeting development and any periodic budget reviews or reconciliations that may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table: Education & Certification Requirements
We’re looking for someone who has a unique mix of experience, skills, and passion for what we do:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, operations or aviation management preferred along with (4) years of experience in aviation material management procurement function of a combination thereof.

While not mandatory, here are some additional things that would make you stand out:
- Member of ISM (Institute Chain Management), or APICS a plus.
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential.
- Above average skills with Microsoft Office, specifically, Excel (charts, graphs, tables), Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Effective analytical skills identifying problem functional areas and resolution.
- Basic knowledge of Accounting and Auditing Principles. Knowledge/experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance preferred.

At Wheels Up, we believe in fair compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications. The salary for this role ranges from $165,000/Yr. to 190,000/Yr., depending on a variety of factors. We don’t typically start individuals at the top of the salary range; your place within the range is based on what you bring to the table. Additionally, you may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program, which rewards individual and organizational performance.
