What are the responsibilities and job description for the Visitor Experience Associate position at Wheels Through Time Museum?
Dale’s Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC is looking for a dynamic individual to add to our gift shop team. The museum houses over 375 rare and vintage American-made motorcycles and focuses on history and preservation. This position is responsible for preparing the gift shop daily for visitors, welcoming visitors into the museum and handling gift shop transactions.
Qualifications for this position include: customer service oriented, energetic, hardworking, outgoing, self-motivated, reliable and flexible. Point of sale and sales experience is a plus. This position is seasonal full-time with competitive pay (starting at $15), bonuses, and the potential for commission and a cohesive team atmosphere. Must be available Thursday through Monday from 9 am - 5 pm during the season which is April through November. There are overtime opportunities during peak periods.
Responsibilities
- Prep gift shop daily
- Welcome, greet, and direct visitors
- Operate cash register and answer phones
- Assist with museum cleanliness
Requirements
- Prior experience a plus but not required; sales experience a plus
- Willingness to take on/learn other tasks during slow periods
- Works well with others in a team oriented environment
- Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods
- Frequently walk, bend, reach above shoulder height, kneel
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs.
- Not overly sensitive to smells as the museum does smell like a garage and motorcycles are started and run daily inside the building
