The Head Coach for Women's Rugby will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Women's Rugby program at Wheeling University. This position requires a dynamic individual who can develop and execute a competitive vision for the program, recruit high-quality student-athletes, and foster an environment that values academic achievement, personal growth, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching plan that includes strategies for competitive success, player development, and team building.
- Recruit, train, and mentor student-athletes, ensuring their academic and athletic success.
- Manage the Women's Rugby program budget, including equipment purchases, travel planning, and scholarship distribution.
- Ensure compliance with all university, conference, and national governing body rules and regulations.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes leadership, accountability, and respect among student-athletes.
- Monitor and support the academic progress of team members, emphasizing the importance of academic achievement and personal development.
- Organize and participate in community service and fundraising activities to support the program and its mission.
- Collaborate with university departments, alumni, and external partners to enhance the visibility and support for Wheeling University Women's Rugby.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Significant coaching experience in rugby, with a track record of competitive success, preferably at the collegiate level.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
- Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
