What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Groundskeeper 3 position at Wheeling Park Commission?
Provide exceptional care to the grounds to attract guests and add to the aesthetic value of the Wheeling Park Commission
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Interact with the public in a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees and external contractors
- Must be able to work alongside a team, or alone to accomplish goals and job tasks
- Operate and maintain grounds equipment such as blowers, mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, edgers, trucks, dump trucks, utility carts, and tractors if required
- Able to use hand tools for grounds maintenance such as shovel, trowel, rake, cultivator, posthole digger, broom, axe, forks, pruners, loppers and shears
- Plant, water, and maintain flower beds, and other plants
- Mow, trim, and edge lawns for a healthy, manicured look
- Plant, water, and maintain trees and shrubs properly
- Remove weeds, and cultivate flower beds and other landscape beds
- Keep walk ways, parking lots, roadways and driveways clear of debris and litter
- Split, stack, and deliver firewood
- Trash collection park-wide through cottages, roadways, parking lots, shelters, and other assigned areas
- Snow removal and ice control from roadways, parking lots, driveways, and walk ways by using shovels, brooms, ice chemical, and tractors and trucks if required
- Prunes trees properly as needed
- Removes fallen trees and limbs, and assists with the removal of dead and/or damaged trees and shrubs
- Assist in maintaining irrigation systems
- Maintain clearance, make minor repairs, and paint fences and gates
- Performs minor repairs to roadways and parking lots
- Keep grounds, drainage ditches, and culverts free of litter and debris (including dead animals)
- Assist in setups and tear downs for special events
- Assist in setup and tear down of Festival of Lights as directed
- Assist with other jobs as directed
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
