We are currently working on a scope for this unit. It has been functioning as an overflow department opening and closing based on the needs to offload the ED and staffing availability. Currently being staffed with our Resource Pool and others reassigned from other departments. Going forward we are looking to hire specifically for this department. (This does not say that someone would never be reassigned elsewhere) It is a 12 bed Med/Surg department. Ratios would not be higher than 1:6 and that is if the department was at capacity.
