Role Description The Solar Land Agent is a full-time, on-site role based in MD, responsible for supporting solar development projects through all phases of land acquisition and site control. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying and evaluating potential solar sites, contacting landowners, explaining project objectives, and negotiating agreements that align with company and client requirements. The Solar Land Agent will prepare, review, and manage lease documents and related land records, coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, and ensure accurate documentation in company systems. The role also involves conducting due diligence on land titles and property information, monitoring key dates and obligations in leases, and providing regular updates on project status. The position requires frequent in-person interaction with landowners and local officials, as well as field visits to prospective and active project sites.
Qualifications
- Strong land acquisition capabilities, including experience with Land Acquisition and Land Management in energy, solar, or related industries.
- Proficiency in lease-related work, including Lease Negotiations, Lease Administration, and drafting or reviewing Leases.
- Experience in non-farmland leasing (e.g., rooftop, mining, or landfill) is a plus.
- Ability to interpret property records, plats, and legal descriptions; familiarity with title research is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work respectfully with diverse landowners and stakeholders.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfort working on-site and in the field, including traveling locally or regionally as project needs require.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., MS Office or Google Workspace); experience with land management or GIS tools is a plus.
- Relevant experience in land services, real estate, right-of-way, or renewable energy; an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
