Mortgage Operations Specialist
Location: Meriden, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday (8:00/8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Work Environment: 100% Onsite

Compensation
This posting covers multiple openings within the Mortgage Operations group. Pay varies based on the specific role:
- Payoff Specialist: $19 – $21 per hour
- Default Fulfillment Closer: $17 – $21 per hour
- Loan Operations Specialist, Partial Release: $25 – $29 per hour

Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is hiring multiple Mortgage Operations Specialists for onsite opportunities in Meriden, Connecticut. These roles support payoff processing, default fulfillment closing, and partial release operations. Ideal candidates will have experience in mortgage servicing, title review, or loan documentation and a strong attention to detail.
These long-term contract roles offer stability and potential pathways to contract-to-hire.
Key ResponsibilitiesPayoff & Loan Servicing Responsibilities
- Prepare and process payoff quotes and related documentation.
- Respond to borrower and internal inquiries regarding payoff status.
- Research and resolve discrepancies following investor and regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare, record, and verify release/discharge documents.
- Maintain accurate, organized records and ensure compliance with established procedures.
Default Fulfillment Closing Responsibilities
- Prepare and review documentation for Modifications, Short Sales, and Deed in Lieu closings.
- Order and validate title reports and original loan documents.
- Coordinate recording activities with vendor partners.
- Track outstanding documents from borrowers, title companies, and county offices.
- Identify and resolve deficiencies in title or documentation.
- Confirm closing costs comply with investor guidelines.
- Support processors and underwriters by obtaining and imaging required documents.
Partial Release / Loan Operations Responsibilities
- Process partial releases and conduct related research (easements, eminent domain, legal description updates, re-plats, etc.).
- Communicate with borrowers, title companies, attorneys, and state representatives.
- Collaborate with internal legal teams when needed.
- Review, cross-check, and validate legal and property documents.
- Prepare written reports, correspondence, and workflow documentation.
- Edit and validate legal forms for accuracy and completeness.
QualificationsEducation
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or paralegal studies preferred for partial release functions.
Experience
- Payoff Specialist: 1–3 years mortgage servicing or financial processing experience.
- Default Fulfillment Closer: Experience with mortgage documentation, title review, or loss mitigation support.
- Partial Release Specialist: Minimum 5 years related experience required; title insurance experience required.
Technical Skills
- Experience with LPS, MSP/Black Knight, or similar servicing systems preferred.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Ability to analyze, research, and problem-solve effectively.
Soft Skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
- Fully onsite office setting.
