Job description:
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Fire hydrant maintenance and repair.
- Testing chlorine in the system.
- Mainline valve operation and maintenance.
- Blow off valve operation and maintenance.
- Pressure reducing valve operation and maintenance.
- Pump station and pump inspections.
- Generator inspections.
- Water meter reading, inspections, maintenance and repairs.
- Locating water utilities and for engineers, contractors, developers, and homeowners.
- Service calls requests for engineers, contractors, developers and homeowners.
- Inspections of new construction projects and existing utility repairs.
- Water main breaks, oversee, assist, and documentation.
- Assisting with cross-connection control compliance.
- GIS manipulation and asset updating.
- Rotational On-Call duties.
Required for Selection:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no major citations.
- Background check.
- Medical examination.
- Must undergo drug and alcohol testing after a conditional offer of hire by the District.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Position requires Certifications of Water Distribution Class 1 or ability within 120 days.
Experience:
· Construction and/or water system related experience.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to be able to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to identify unsafe practices and avoid injury (utilize proper PPE).
- Ability to work in a variety of environments.
- Ability to identify work needs and complete them in a timely manner.
- Ability to do strenuous activities for long periods of time.
- Ability to learn other operators’ duties and do on the job training.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. for a short period of time.

- Deal with citizens, suppliers, contractors, employees and the public as a professional manner at all times.
- Ensure work areas/facilities and vehicles are clean and presentable at all times.

Rate of Pay:
- This position is hourly. The starting rate of pay is $24.50 to $27.50 based on prior experience.
