Summary of Job Description – Accountant (Whatley Health Services, Inc.)

Reports To: Controller and/or CFO

Summary:
The Accountant supports the Controller and CFO in managing the fiscal operations of Whatley Health Services, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in accounting processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred).
1–2 years of accounting experience preferred.
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Experience with accounting software and nonprofit/healthcare accounting.
Knowledge of accounts payable, payroll, and internal controls.
Ability to follow policies, maintain accurate records, and learn federal guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage grants and related financial reporting.
Maintain accounting and financial records in compliance with laws/regulations.
Prepare monthly entries for revenue, payroll, and expenses.
Analyze financial data and report variances to leadership.
Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts.
Generate ad hoc and pharmacy-related financial reports.
Assist with budgeting, internal audits, and annual external audits.
Support preparation of the annual cost report, Form 990, and U.S. Census filings.
Update fiscal policies and perform other assigned duties.
Overall:
The role focuses on financial recordkeeping, grant management, auditing support, and analytical reporting to ensure sound fiscal management within the organization.
