If you're passionate about youth development, enjoy working with coaches and families, and love the energy of sports leagues, camps, and community events, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

What You'll Do

Working alongside our Sports Director, you'll help create fun, safe, and memorable sports experiences for youth and adults throughout Whatcom County. No two days will look quite the same!

Make Every Experience Count

  • Create welcoming, inclusive environments where every participant feels valued and encouraged.
  • Help ensure fields, facilities, and equipment are safe and ready for action.
  • Organize and distribute sports equipment, uniforms, snacks, and program materials across multiple locations.
  • Assist with registration records, team rosters, and program participation tracking.

Be a Champion for Our Community

  • Represent the YMCA at community events and help spread the word about our programs.
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Follow YMCA and SafeSport policies, youth protection practices, and mandated reporting requirements to ensure a safe environment for all participants.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

We're looking for someone who brings positive energy, takes initiative, and enjoys making things happen!

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Are organized, dependable, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities.
  • Enjoy connecting with people and building strong relationships.
  • Can confidently lead activities, support volunteers, and solve problems as they arise.
  • Are comfortable working in active environments, including gyms, fields, and outdoor program locations.
  • Believe sports should be fun, inclusive, and accessible to everyone.
  • Are willing to learn, grow, and jump in wherever the team needs support!

Experience in coaching, youth sports, recreation programming, summer camps, or volunteer coordination is a plus!
