What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen / Prep Assistant position at WHAT IT IS BITES™?
WHAT IT IS BITES™ is building an event team for luxury, intimate food experiences, private dinners, celebrations, pop-ups, and special events in the Katy/Houston area.
We are looking for a dependable Kitchen / Prep Assistant to help with food preparation and kitchen support before and during events.
What You'll Do
- Assist with basic food preparation, chopping, slicing, portioning, and assembling ingredients
- Follow recipes and preparation instructions
- Help with meal prep, food assembly, and plating
- Keep prep areas, utensils, and equipment clean and organized
- Follow food safety and sanitation practices
- Help organize ingredients and supplies before events
- Assist the kitchen team with keeping food service organized and on schedule
- Communicate with the Host and event team throughout the event
- Help with simple kitchen breakdown and cleanup after service
What We're Looking For
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working in a kitchen and standing for extended periods
- Able to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Good attention to detail
- Clean, organized, and professional
- Basic food preparation or kitchen experience is a plus, but not required
- Catering, restaurant, culinary, or event experience is a plus

Dress Code
Professional all-black event attire with clean, comfortable black shoes. Additional event-specific instructions may be provided.
