Duties
- Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and other laboratory techniques with accuracy and care
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation
- Maintain a sterile environment by practicing aseptic techniques during all procedures
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures clearly to promote cooperation and reduce anxiety
- Prepare all specimens for pick-up by lab couriers be established deadlines
- Document all collection activities accurately in accordance with clinic protocols
- Follow established safety protocols and adhere to medical terminology standards during all interactions
Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection methods including venipuncture and blood sampling
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to blood collection and patient care
- Experience working in clinical laboratories or hospital settings is highly desirable
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically
- Knowledge of vital signs measurement and basic patient assessment techniques
- Ability to follow aseptic technique rigorously to prevent contamination or infection
- Familiarity with clinical protocols, safety standards, and specimen processing procedures
- Must have Nevada Lab License and phlebotomist certificate
